My wife and I opened up a location for the gallery in Millerton NY in 2020. We came up here during the pandemic and opened the space as an attempt to keep showing work while it was impossible to do so in New York City. As we settled into a cadence of regular shows, our connections to the community grew. I had met the founders of the Wassaic Project a decade prior but the significance of their program and importance of their engagement and local involvement did not truly become clear to me until we became part of that community as well. To me the Wassaic Project is a full immersion in art, both in making and exhibition, teaching and practicing. Its community is unique and its growth echoes the potential and growth of the region as an artistic hub.
